Week 3 Recap
stats through the games of 4/20/08
Thru three weeks of the 2008 season, 8 starting pitchers league-wide delivered 4 quality starts. The biggest surprise on that list is still – Shawn Chacon. There have been a total of 128 different pitchers have produced 262 quality starts. There have been a total of 283 games played, so 566 starts (46.3% QS).
NL: San Diego has had 14 QS in 19 games (9-10), followed by the team with the best record, Arizona (13-5), with 13. Florida has only 4 QS in 18 games (11-7).
AL: Cleveland and the ChiSox have 12 QS in 19 and 18 games respectively. Interesting, the Indians are 7-12 and the White Sox are 11-7 with a team ERA a whole run lower than Cleveland. The Indians have blown at least 2 games late (see Red Sox games last week) and probably more.
The Red Sox have 9 QS through 20 games. All of the starters have two except for Buchholz. They are an AL-best 13-7.
